Madsoundz Tauranga Soundoff 2004

Well, what a day.
Upon arriving at Baypark, as soon as you stepped out of the car, you could hear systems trying to out do each other. It sounded like it was going to be a big event.

The line up of cars for the Tauranga Soundoff was the biggest turn out I’ve seen in a long time. Many different systems were present at the event, the majority competing in Street B after the latest rule change. A suprisingly large number of entrants running Sony gear. I easily recognized some local cars, it was good to see them support such an event in their area.

Unfortunately the competitors did not have a chance to get a SPL reading, much to the disappointment of everybody. The Soundoff crew had major computer troubles, which meant no soundoff! The competitors that had to travel 2-3 hrs to get there were quite disappointed, to say the least.

Luckily the soundoff wasn’t the only action planned for the day. A burnout comp organised by Simply Sideways was scheduled to start around 4pm and of course Mad Soundz from Tauranga had a tent with some mad specials.
There was a line up of old cars on display, mustangs, chevs, etc. and a few guys on BMX bikes giving a demonstration.
A crazy Mitsi ute with hydros in it was driving around pulling some mad angles on three wheels, these conversions becoming quite popular in NZ at the moment.

The weather only just held out for us, although it tried to rain a few times.
Unfortunately with not much to write about in the way of results this article is fairly short. But there’s plenty of pics, so take a look!
